what did February 2010 look like?
Big screen blaring Olympic events all day long. Cowbells being run every time we medal. Prep staff working graveyard shifts. Deliveries arriving at 2am. NBC eating lunch at our restaurant every day. Shaun White eating lunch the day before his gold medal event. Front of house managers wearing Team Canada jerseys every day we played a hockey game. People lined up for hours. Full tables from open to close….and by close, that means 2am. Only during Olympics.
Overall, working at a restaurant downtown during the Olympics was an incredible, exciting, albeit exhausting two weeks.
And now, the city is undergoing what the media is calling an “Olympic Hangover”‘. After Sunday’s closing ceremonies, the city has been showing signs of spending too much money and partying too much over the last month….so now everyone is staying in, saving some money and relaxing after the crazy time that was February. Time to rest. Whew.
