daisy. Ohhh the daisy. You’d think since it’s the most common, most ho-hum flower, it would be easy. Ummm no. Totally the hardest flower we made. This photo is very likely the sample one piped by our teacher. sorry sister, no daisies on your wedding cake.
For cake class #3, we were into the curriculum I’ve been waiting for. aka, the stuff I don’t think I’d attempt to figure out on my own.
Royal icing flowers look very realistic (or shall I say, they SHOULD look realistic when done correctly….so while some turned out fine, others will not be up for the role of “what flowers shall appear on Pamela’s wedding cake”.
Pansy – super cute! Loved this one
daffodil – this one looks a bit crooked (which it likely is…the centre ‘horn’ part is literally a hollow cone of icing. Of course it’s going to tip over!). But there were straight ones, I swear.
But next week, we bring back our flowers and birdies, along with an oval iced cake (in the cake pan we were given!) and we are making a flower/birdie/garden cake. Really, it’s to learn the basketweave pattern, but I guess we all have to do our fair share of granny cakes 🙂
