The kitchen is done, and just in time too. My first wedding cake order was for last weekend, and talk about starting things off with a bang! A towering three tiered buttercream cakes with cascades of fresh flowers down the side.
I use a system called CakeStackers for supporting most of my cakes. It is a series of interlocking stainless steel dowels and spacers, which essentially locks the cake together. It gives me piece of mind that the cake is secure (particularly since we live on a steep road!) and I can deliver cakes already stacked). This cake was a fantastic candidate for the system, as the winery it took place at was located at the top of long hill. Plus, the weather was unseasonably warm and that is not the best match for buttercream. After all, a chilled cake is a secure cake….a warm cake is, well, not so secure. But thanks to CakeStackers, the cake stayed level and secure and beautiful, and the couple was happy.
Off to a good start so far!
