What a year. Christmas 2010 was a whirlwind of holiday baking, chocolates, cookies, and yes, even birthday cakes. The Baker’s Market finished up on December 11 with a bang, with seemingly hundreds upon hundreds of guests in search of treats to serve for the holidays. We all sold out, and even the 8x batch of stollen I made was gone. What a feeling that was! The end of the Christmas Baker’s Market signaled the start of custom orders. Here was my first, and largest order….
40 boxes of whipped hazelnut shortbread
80 bags of peppermint, mocha and vanilla bean marshmallows
120 ornate sugar cookie snowflakes
40 boxes of hand-tempered chocolates: chocolate ginger ganache truffles, sea salt caramels, caramel pecan chews, and hazelnut clusters.
The 40 large boxes were packed up assembly line style and delivered. What motivation to one day have a commercial space of my own!
