Barely, though, this early on a sunday morning (7.12am)… which doesn’t sound early, but now that I am finishing work way after midnight, it is. Trust me. It’s been a lot of late nights at the restaurant, sometimes only 8hr shifts, sometimes 12-14hrs, but when they end at 1.45am and then you come home wired and need to unwind, these 4am bedtimes are putting my schedule off kilter a bit!
But I’m alive, and it’s good. Finally am getting a mix of day prep shifts (like today, I work 9am-4pm, and tomorrow, 6am-2pm!!), which is a change from the late late dinner shifts. That is fun but man is it ever busy! On the plus side, I got to do a dessert platter for Canada’s only winning Iron Chef two nights ago!
Getting used to having Tuesday/Wednesdays off will take some adjustment (especially since all of my friends work office jobs and have weekends off), but it has been nice having days off to just bike down to the beach and soak in some sunshine and quiet….necessary after the sensory overload that working Dinner Service is!
