This was a productive day down in the garage! I had all day down there yesterday, and got so much done. My biggest goal for this weekend was to get the new wall mudded, so that it can be sanded/primed/painted soon. I made a quick trip down to Rona (actually to buy the tiles for my backsplash, as all tiles were 20% off this weekend!) and while I was there, grabbed a roll of some self-adhesive mesh drywall tape.
Disclaimer – I have only tried mudding drywall twice before and it is a terrible terrible job, and I think it is nearly impossible to produce a professional looking result if you are, ahem, not a professional. Luckily, the wall that I am going to mud will have my massive convection oven infront of it on one side, and the fridge/freezer on the other side. Because of this, it isn’t worth the expense of paying someone to do the work for me. I’m all for paying a professional in times when it matters.
Self adhesive mesh tape. I hadn’t used this before, but a contractor friend recommended this kind and it was a pleasure to use this compared to the old paper type of tape.

I managed to get the first coat of drywall mud onto the wall. It is pretty chilly outside right now so need to give this a good couple days to dry before sanding and doing coat #2.
While waiting for the mud to dry, I continued to move work benches, mixers and shelving around for what felt like the hundredth time, and I believe I finally decided on where to situate all of the equipment.
