For my decoration, I thought this would be a good time to work on my blown sugar, which I detested last time. So, what better way to practice than to make a bunch of grapes… which really, are nothing more than a whole lot of tiny little blown sugar balls.
We made another sugar centrepiece – this time, pouring a mixture of water and calcium carbonate into the sugar mixture before cooking it further (to evaporate the water), which created an opaque white colour. This centrepiece was to be vertical, having a backdrop, a support, and something mounted on it. Here is my base and backdrop (and support) cooling after being poured (I swirled in purple colour to make it pretty).
