2013 was off to a great start — a January trip to Disney World, (along with my sister and brother in law) to run the Run Disney Half Marathon!
Our snowy winter training runs had paid off….we finished the run still standing, not throwing up, and with smiles on our faces. I call that a win.
Home from Florida, it was time to get started on painting and assembling work benches at my kitchen space in town!
Opening soon. May 10th, to be exact.
But shortly after opening….
I had a sous chef bun in the oven!
My parents came for a visit, and we put in ingrained sprinklers.
Later in the summer, a trip to Pemberton meant getting to meet the meat that would soon be filling our freezers.
Most of the summer was spent rolling doughs, decorating cakes, and making ice cream sandwiches.
Catering a breakfast for the Wine Bloggers Conference.
Baby was a’growing.
On our anniversary, we enjoyed a decadent Joy Road Catering dinner (wine paired for most, sparkling apple cider for me!).
dressing the part on Halloween for handing out candy.
November: a trip to Maui
home from Maui (and still with 11 weeks until our due date), we started our kitchen renovation.
It wasn’t terrible — only 4 nights of eating out!
But then, unexpectedly (6 weeks early!)……this happened. The biggest surprise of our lives joined us in a very sudden but smooth delivery.
because she was so early, we were transferred to a hospital that had a NICU ward.
I was stuck in the hospital for a week after delivery too, thanks to delivery complications, but Bernard did his best to make my stay (and Christmas in the hospital!) pleasant.
After two weeks in hospital, just before New Years, we were discharged.
After so long in hospital, I was so very grateful to be home, with my girl.
a very merry belated Christmas, with the greatest gift ever.
